D-21 Still Beeping...

Well, I am posting on this blog after a long time. I was really busy with the preparation for my final year BSc exams that begin on the 10th of March and go on till the 25th of April. I was feeling really irritated today, have not studied much. I have these times when I do not feel like touching my books. I am buried under a heap of sums to solve, many of which are quite difficult, especially the ones in group theory, which is giving me a hard time. I feel I can do very well, in the subjects, Analysis, Differential Equations and Mechanics and Multi-variable Calculus but Algebra has been a bogey on my back for a long time now. I have really messed it up and I believe I do not know algebra at all. After the exams, I am going to study it all over again, not only out of choice but also out of necessity. I cannot digest the fact that I am not good at something, and that too when it is maths.

But today was not all that bad... I just found out that I have been selected for a math camp called Mathematics Training and Talent Search programme, to be held in Mysore, from mid-May to mid-June. That made me happy. Finally I will get to be in a class where everyone is equally good, and more importantly, we will be taught by teachers from institutes like the TIFR, Bombay. It will be great to be taught by actual mathematicians. The programme will be very intensive, but I am sure it will be fun too. And I am determined to be the best student there at level I. This programme will surely go a long way in filling the many holes that I have in my knowledge of maths.

So I will be learning maths throughout my vacation. For the first time, I will be doing something productive in a vacation, before this I used to just waste my time watching movies.

But first I have to nail a very important exam and see that algebra paper through.

Apart from that, though I have not been posting anything, I do have my blog on my mind all the time. I am always thinking of how I might use my blog to further my understanding about the issues in the country and learn a lot from the process. The blog has become more personal than issue based these days, and I admit that it has lost focus. But after my exams, I plan to bring it back on track. I will post very frequently after my exams, and many of my posts will carry critical analysis of the events in our country. I really wish that I could write something about the budget that was just announced, but I am just so pressed for time, that I cannot. Anyway, after this, the blog will be a good blend of issues, analysis, and personal posts.

I want to develop a deep insight into government policy making and the intricacies of the financial markets, and I am going to use my blog as an effective tool to develop the maturity to understand and comment upon them.

So the blog will evolve into something very different from here...

Anyway, that's all for now, I have to get back to my books, it is a real drag, but I cannot shy away from what has to be done.
